There is no more fundamental way to inspect a font than by examining the outlines of the individual glyphs that comprise the entire font.

Glyphs are visual representations of individual characters in a font file. Each glyph is a piece of art whose mathematical outline defines the appearance of a letter, ligature (a combination of multiple characters into a single glyph), numeric digit, symbol or other character.

Dragging Characters into Your Documents

  • Activate the font using the slide switch at the right-top of the Glyphs View.
  • Drag the character from the Glyphs View into your document.
  • In the document app window, use the Font menu to set the font and style to the correct font for the glyph.

If you forget these simple steps, you can click the question mark icon on the bottom right of the Glyphs View for a helpful reminder.
